A major part of the parish council structure includes a system of committees. These committees are the major working bodies of the Parish Council. They are the backbone of the council’s effectiveness because they are established to broaden the base for dialogue and for parishioner representation and participation in the mission of the Church. Committees are made up of parishioners whose unique talents and interests are especially suited for the specific area of ministry they represent.
The mission and ministry of Jesus is continued in Immaculate Conception Church through various parish committees. These include:
A. Evangelization Committee (Good news witness) - promotes those ministries that reach out to invite and welcome into the church community inactive or alienated Catholics and non-Catholics.
B. Worship and Spirituality Committee (Praying believers) - develop opportunities and activities to help our parish and individual members experience better under standing and fuller participation in the Mass and celebrations of the ritual and sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church.
C. Education and Faith Formation Committee (learning/teaching disciples) - creates the awareness in the parish of our shared responsibility for the catechetical mission of the Church by promoting religious education and formation activities for all members of the parish.
D. Communication Committee (People of God in communion) - advocates a sense of belonging among parishioners by keeping them informed of the activities, issues and events affecting the parish, and by serving as a vehicle for publicizing the activities of all parish organization.
E. Finance and Stewardship Committee (serving stewards) - promotes parishioner participation in all parish ministries and encourages parishioner stewardship of time, talent, and treasure to improve our parish for generations to come.
