“The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it.”
Catechism #1324
The celebration of First Communion is an exciting parish event. The community here at Immaculate Conception welcomes your child as he/she joins us in receiving our Lord Jesus Christ in the sacrament of the Eucharist.
At Mass, the bread and wine is changed into the total Jesus Christ, body and blood, soul and divinity. Holy Communion unites us intimately with Jesus Christ, separates us from sin, and unites us with other members of the Catholic Church.
First Communion is usually celebrated in the Spring of a child's Second
Grade year. Preparation is done in our Faith Formation K-12 program. This is a two year program. Children should begin preparation in First Grade. Sacramental preparation classes are available for children who are in Third thru Sixth Grade.
Adults seeking to receive their sacraments or possibly joining the Catholic Church should contact the Office of Faith Formation.
