Parish Council

The parish council is responsible for assisting the pastor and clergy in ministry to the parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church.  It advises the pastor and his fellow clergy about the needs of parishioners, designs programs to meet those needs, recruits volunteers for those programs and, finally, oversees the implementation of those programs.  The Council also approves the annual parish budget as prepared by the Finance Board, as well as any capital expenditures of the ordinary income (collection), and any capital improvement project or other major purchase.

  • Executive Committee – Council Chair, and one or two additional members of the Council.
  • Worship and Spiritual Life Committee – Serves to create and enhance the spiritual life of the parish.  Among it’s  subcommittees:  Liturgy Committee, Vocations Committee, Emmaus/Road to Calvary, Cursillo, Legion of Mary, Parish Retreats & Missions, Deacons’ Ministries, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, et cetera.
  • Parish Life Committee Creates and enhances a sense of Immaculate Conception as a community of faithful.  Among it’s sub-committees: Hospitality (responsible for our Welcoming Packets, Welcoming Committee, New Baby Committee); Parish Activities, Parish Receptions, Knights of Columbus, Altar Society, Boy & Girl Scouts, et cetera.
  • Family Life Committee – Serves to enhance and assist family life.  Among it’s sub-committees: Marriage Committee (Sponsor Couples, Wedding Guild, annual World Day  of Marriage Dinner, young couples group), Parish Youth Committee, Stay-at-Home moms group, Special Activities committees, (e.g. Easter Egg Hunt, Family Dinners), Bereavement Committee.
  • Social Action Committee – Responsible for our parish outreach and social consciousness.  Among it’s sub-committees : Neighborhood Outreach, Haiti Committee, Chiapas Committee, Habitat for Humanity, Ladies of Charity, Pro-Life Activities, Legislative Issues, Education on Social Issues, e.g. child abuse, AIDS awareness, elderly issues, pornography, et cetera.
  • Evangelization Committee – Promotes on-going adult formation and education in our faith.  It is especially responsible for reaching out to inactive Catholics.  Sub-committees are RCIA, Community Education, Ecumenism. 
  • Hispanic Ministry – Responsible for coordinating pastoral care and sacraments to the Spanish speaking community.
  • Communications Committee – Is responsible for all aspects of communication for the parish.  The IC News is one of its major projects.  It is also responsible for press releases, tickets, flyers, web page, census, Neighbors-In-Christ, maintaining volunteer lists, and assisting with parish mailings..
  • Youth Ministry – This committee coordinates activities for parish youth.  Some projects they oversee are high school and middle school youth groups.
